Fully funded EPSRC studentships
The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) in partnership with The University of Manchester offers fully-funded studentships across a range of healthcare projects in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health.
The programme aims to tackle scientific and technological health challenges, and will help you develop the knowledge, experience and skills required to address future challenges.
There are three studentships available for 2025/26 entry.
About the programme
- Fully funded 3.5-year studentship commencing October 2025.
- Tuition fees covered at the standard home rate.
- Annual stipend included at the UKRI rate.
- Research Training Support Grant (RTSG) towards project running costs or consumables, conference and workshop attendance and external career development opportunities (maximum of £5,000 per year).

Eligibility
Eligibility
Competition for studentships is expected to be very high.
These studentships are available to UK and international applicants, and provide funding for tuition fees and stipend at the UKRI rate for 3.5 years.
Applicants must have obtained, or be about to obtain, a First or Upper Second class UK honours degree, or the equivalent qualifications gained outside the UK, in an appropriate area.

International applicants
One of the three studentships will be available to applicants outside the UK. Therefore, this full studentship will only be awarded to an exceptional quality international candidate due to the competitive nature of this scheme.

Found an EPSRC project that you're interested in? Reaching out to the listed supervisor and speaking to them about the project is your next step and is one of the most important things you need to do before you apply.
When applying, you'll need to provide supporting documents including:
- Supporting statement
- Reference details
- Certificates and transcripts
- Official English Language certificate
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Applications missing the above required documentation may be rejected.
It is not necessary to upload a research statement when applying for this programme.
Once you have found your project and contacted your supervisor, you can apply online using the following information:
- Level of study: select 'Postgraduate Research'
- Entry year: Select the academic year you wish to study in. For example, September 2025 is in the 2025/26 academic year
- Supervisor name: Specify the name of the main supervisor only, if the supervisor isn't listed you can enter it manually
- Intake: Select 'September'
For the funding section, you should select:
- Funding: 'Yes' from the drop-down
- Type of funding: 'Uni of Manchester scheme'
- Awarding body: EPSRC DTP
- Status of funding: Awarded
- Funding covers: Fully Funded
- Leave the remaining boxes blank
