Information for BNurs offer holders

Below is some important information for applicants who have received a conditional or unconditional offer of a place on one of our BNurs (Hons) courses.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and Code of Conduct declaration

A condition of your entry (and continuation) on to the BNurs (Hons) course is to complete an enhanced DBS check after you have registered on the course (normally during Welcome Week) and for this to be deemed satisfactory.

You will be provided with information and support when completing your DBS check by colleagues in the School of Health Sciences (including for those students who are already registered with the DBS Update Service).

In advance of this, you might want to view the information provided on the DBS website: DBS checks: detailed guidance (GOV.UK).

Prior to a formal DBS check and during the application stage, you are required to complete and return a self-declaration form (Word, 62KB) to the Admissions Team, which must also be deemed satisfactory in anticipation of the official disclosure being received.

Any information contained within the self-declaration will be treated in the strictest confidence. All offer holders must declare any convictions, cautions, reprimands, final warnings, penalty notice for disorder, bind overs and any ongoing criminal investigations.

The self-declaration form should be returned by email to ug.nursing@manchester.ac.uk no later than 7 July 2025.

Please advise the Admissions Manager (suzanne.eden@manchester.ac.uk) should you need to update your self-declaration prior to commencing the course.

Further information can be found in the Division of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work's criminal record checks process document (PDF, 223KB), which outlines the processes followed should an offer holder have a criminal record. The division considers any positive self declaration and/or DBS disclosures on an individual basis.
