Questions about preparing for your interview.
Online interviews are an option for international applicants who are domiciled overseas. We have given those candidates the option of attending an interview in person or online. The MMIs taking place online will replicate an on-campus interview.
No applicant will be disadvantaged by the style of interview chosen.
You will need to satisfy the requirement of providing one of the required documents as listed on the required documents page.
If you do not have a piece of ID, your school will need to provide us with verification of who you are. The Admissions team may then be required to take a photo of you to match up to your school's confirmation of your identity.
The photograph and documentation will only be accessible to the members of the School of Medical Sciences Undergraduate Admissions Team, and will be deleted from our records once your identity is verified.
If we are unable to verify your identity, we may not permit you to sit the interview.
You will need to attend an on-campus interview.
We would encourage you to speak to your school or college to see whether they can either provide you with equipment to be able to sit your interview, or whether you can sit the interview at the school/college itself.
Questions about your interview day.
We recognise that not all applicants may have a room available to them to provide them with a quiet and private environment.
If you are concerned about this, we would encourage you to speak to your school or college to see whether you can sit your interview at the school/college.
If you have any questions about this, please contact the Admissions team by emailing:
No. This will not form a part of the marking criteria.
We do require the room to be quiet and that nobody else is in the room with you. This is to ensure that you are sitting the interview yourself and are not being disturbed or prompted by anyone else.
No. None of the interview stations require any note taking and we would strongly encourage you not to have any papers to refer to in order to stay engaged with your interviewer.
If you are experiencing technical difficulties in any of your stations, please report this to the interviewer. You will not be penalised for this.
If you experience more serious technical difficulties and the interviewer believes this has affected your ability to sit the interview station, this will be reported to the Admissions team.
We may allow you to either take that station again or, in more serious cases where multiple stations are affected, to take the interview again at a later date.
If you’re not feeling 100% on the day, either before you attend the interview or when you have logged into your interview session, you'll need to tell the Admissions team before the interview starts. This is so we can make a note on our interview schedule and inform the interviewers.
Alternatively, we may be able to re-schedule your interview. Please understand that we cannot accept retrospective reports of illness after the interview has taken place. They will not be accepted as mitigation should your interview not be successful if you have decided to continue with your interview.
If you feel you are not well enough on the day to undertake the interview, you must inform the Admissions team before the interview commences, and an alternative date may be provided.
After your interview.
We understand that applicants will be anxious to hear back after their interview. However, the Admissions team is unable to give a decision straight away.
We expect that applicants will receive their decision in March or April.
