Undergraduate placement scheme

We run a successful programme of laboratory, field research, science communication and enterprise/commercial placements with over 100 partner organisations worldwide.

Our partners include:

We are always looking to expand our range of placements to reflect the growing range of science careers both inside and outside of the laboratory.

Many of our placement providers say that they would be delighted to welcome our students back as employees after graduation, and our students are often targeted by recruiters throughout the UK and Europe.

How to advertise your placement

If you are interested in taking on one of our students for a placement at your company, please send us a job description and advert describing the role, area of work and type of skills you need, as well as when you wish the placement to begin and end. 

Placements can begin in June, July, August or September and must be between 9 and 12 months in length.

Recruitment usually begins in October and runs until June.  However, we would advise companies to advertise early to secure the best candidates for the role. 

Your placement will need to be approved by the Faculty Team before we can advertise the placement to the appropriate students.

We will collate CVs, applications, covering letters and send them to you, or we can direct students to online application forms.

If you would like to come and speak to students on campus, we would be happy to arrange this for you. Similarly, we can arrange for interviews to be held at the University if this is more convenient for you.
