Equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI)
Our people and our values are at the heart of our University's strategic plan.
We aim to create an inclusive place to work and study, one that is characterised by equity, diversity, accessibility, and a sense of belonging for our community.
Strategy
Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) strategy has three key priorities:
- inclusive environment and culture
- diversity and equity across our community
- inclusive practice
It sets out our aims for the next three years and is shaped by ideas shared by colleagues, students, alumni, partners, and members of the wider Manchester city region and was developed in consultation with members of the Faculty.
It complements the University's strategic plan (PDF) and EDI strategy (PDF) with a holistic approach and celebrates individuals and their many identities, extending beyond our statutory obligations, so that we become a truly inclusive organisation where EDI is embedded in all that we do and who we are.
We pledge to listen to our staff and students and act on suggestions. We will create responsive initiatives, equal opportunities and champion inclusive behaviours that encompass the values, goals and vision of our Faculty and University.
FBMH has a genuine commitment to equality for all our staff and students, regardless of gender, gender identity, disability, ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation, marital or transgender status, age or nationality.
Incorporating EDI in all our activities forms part of our commitment to one of the University's core goals: social responsibility.
"Our people and our values are critical to the success of our Faculty. We are committed to developing a fully supportive community and realising all our staff and students' potential. We will promote a diverse, inclusive and accessible culture where all staff and students can flourish and are treated fairly with dignity and respect."
